Gulwinder “Gullu” Singh is a corporate real estate attorney and dedicated Dharma practitioner who teaches both secular and Buddhist meditation in classes, groups, and retreats. He offers mindfulness programs in universities, law firms, bar associations, and corporate settings, with a particular focus on supporting the legal community.

Gullu is a graduate of Spirit Rock’s four-year Teacher Training Program and is qualified to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). He serves as core faculty for the Spirit Rock Dedicated Practitioners Program and the Mindfulness in Law Teacher Training, and is a mentor in the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program. He is the incoming Co-chair of the Spirit Rock Guiding Teacher Council.

His teaching integrates classical Buddhist wisdom with practical approaches to contemporary life, emphasizing clarity, compassion, and embodied practice. Deeply committed to bringing meditation into professional environments, Gullu shares the Dharma as an antidote to stress, a support for ethical and wise action, and a path toward greater resilience and well-being. He is dedicated to helping individuals cultivate insight, steadiness, and a compassionate heart in the midst of modern life’s challenges.

Equanimity is a culmination of practice where the mind is steady, contented, and undisturbed. It’s the opposite of being agitated or overwhelmed. One traditional simile is being supple like bamboo so we can bend in the wind and not break. It’s ultimately about giving up any struggle with how things are in this moment. When we can rest in equanimity, we find a kind of well-being and happiness which is not so dependent on circumstances because it’s generated from within. It’s not so easy to do, so we have this whole path of practice to support us.

Retreat On-Land

January 11 - January 18, 2027 Monday - Monday | 7 nights

Mettā Retreat: Teachings and Practices to Cultivate a Wise, Compassionate, and Resilient Heart

12 CE Credits. Registration Open. This retreat focuses on the cultivation of mettā, or lovingkindness—the development of a heart grounded in goodwill toward oneself and all beings. Through sustained practice, we train the heart in kindness, drawing on mindfulness to recognize and soften patterns that limit the heart. While centered on mettā, we also explore compassion, appreciative joy, and equanimity. Held primarily in noble silence, the retreat includes guided meditation, Dharma talks, and meetings with teachers.

Mindfulness for Everyone: Cultivating Attention, Compassion, and Presence

8 CE Credits. Registration Open. Mindfulness offers us tools to develop our capacity to pay attention, regulate emotions, and cultivate states of lovingkindness, compassion, and even-mindedness. In this retreat, we will practice mindfulness through stillness and movement meditation, as well as through lectures and the opportunity to meet with teachers who will guide our practice. While rooted in the Buddhist practice of mindfulness, this retreat will also focus on the practical applications of mindfulness and the range of ways to practice it.
